Doodle Bugs! Standard of the Week: 11/05/12
This week’s SOTW reminds team members about the importance of daily outdoor play, even when it is cold outside. Our beautiful, well-equipped playgrounds should be enjoyed by the children every day – in fact, OCFS requires it! The only exception is inclement/extreme weather. The general rule is 25 degrees or above, with an understanding that occasionally the windchill factor may affect the temperature.
Wondering why it is so important for children to play outside?
- Outdoor light and fresh air stimulate the brain – children feel happier outside!
- Outdoor play stimulate metabolism – children burn more calories outside!
- Outdoor play stimulates the immune system – fewer germs!
- Outdoor play is fun 🙂
The SOTW will be posted for parents to see, in the faculty lounge, and placed in each classroom’s mailslot.
